Pine Siskin - Carduelis pinus

During the summer of 2010 we had an irruption of Pine Siskins in Cochise County and I had the Siskins visit my yard for the first time. Pine Siskins are a fairly slender, small headed bird with a notched tail and conical bill. The head and body are finely streaked with brown. The underparts are a dull white with brown streaks. The Siskin has yellow edges on its greater coverts.
