Violet-crowned - Amazilia violiceps

The Violet-crowned is a fairly large hummingbird averaging about 4 1/2 inches, both the adult male and female will have a violet crown, white chin and underparts and a red bill with a black tip. Photo taken at Paton's Hummingbird yard in Patagonia, Arizona on September 11, 2010. A rare bird in the United States, a few will come into Southeast Arizona each summer.
