Canyon Towhee – Melozone fusca

One of my most prolific backyard birds. The Canyon Towhee is medium sized, with a short conical bill. They are a dull brown along the back, with a reddish brown cap and a rufous or cinnamon colored vent. This Towhee has an eye ring and a dark breast mark.In the US the Canyon Towhee can be found through much of Arizona, most of New Mexico and upper areas of west Texas. They can usually be found in arid shrubby areas, in canyons and open woodlands.
