Berylline Hummingbird - Amazilia beryllina

The Beryllyne is a medium sized hummingbird, averaging 3 3/4 inches, with a moderate length tail and medium sized dark straight bill. A bird of Mexico we usually will see a couple in the mountains of Southeast Arizona each summer. The sexes are fairly similar, though the female may be slightly paler overall. The adults are a fairly dark hummingbird, with a dak green throat and breast, and a reddish brown base to the wings.
